Traditional movie screens are made out of fabric, the IMAX® Dome screen is actually made out of aluminum panels covered with reflective paint. The screen is made up of many different screen segments that are approximately two feet by two feet in size. Each segment is perforated with hundreds of tiny holes that allow air and sound to pass through them. The screen of the McLeod/Busse IMAX® Dome Theatre is 50 feet high and 60 feet wide. That's the size of a six story building!
